In case anyone else is wondering

I purchased an AT&T Samsung S7 from best buy and when I got home and tried to tether by USB to my laptop to test for Internet connectivity, (I use Linux, so the usb drivers aren't neccesary) I found I had none. I verified that Linux saw my phone (Oddly enough it saw it as a Samsung Advance) , I brought the phone back to best buy to the AT&T desk, they directed me to the Samsung rep. He reflashed the phone and said usb tether was just fine. Oddly enough, I got my answer at the local AT&T store, the AT&T rep had the answer, oddly enough. AT&T no longer allows computers to get Internet via no usb no phone tether. Now it's hi WiFi only. Looks like it's time to find the modem init strings and fire up wvdial again!
So, if you're with AT&T and can't usb tether, you now know why!
